Mission Trip to Budapest, Hungary

Dear Friends,

We have been asked to be part of a music mission trip to Budapest, Hungary in May 2019, playing with a jazz big band. We're very excited for the opportunity to share hope and love through music behind the former Soviet "iron curtain". We have also added another week to our trip to travel to southern Norway and do similar work there. We need your help! Would you consider partnering with us through prayer and/or a financial donation?

Why We're Going

Some give by going while others go by giving.

We're going on this trip to love God by loving His people. Free public performances by American musicians are a fantastic way to gain attention and put smiles on faces. But more importantly, we're using them as a way to connect local people with local organizations and ministries that can help them with things like housing, financial aid, medical needs, pregnancy care, recovery from addiction, and more.

“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." (Matt. 25:40b)

What We'll Do in Budapest

This leg of the trip is being organized in partnership with Global Missions Project, a non-profit music missions organization. We will be playing 11 concerts in 7 days with the Metro Big Band, a 20-piece jazz band from the Nashville metro area, conducted by Camp Kirkland. Deb is the lead vocalist and Rob is on guitar. While in Budapest we will work with local organizations to reach students at their schools, put on public performances and music workshops, and help strengthen and bless local church congregations.

What We'll Do in Norway

We are leaving the jazz band behind as we head to Norway for the 2nd half of our trip. We're organizing this leg of the journey ourselves, partnering with friends and contacts we have in the area. We'll be part of a series of public events focused on finding Christ-centered recovery from hurts, habits, and addictions. Our adult daughters Sami and Maggie will join us, performing music and assisting with the logistical needs of the tour. Deb will also be sharing her personal testimony. Because of our long history with the ministry Celebrate Recovery we're very excited to be a part of these events! We'll post our Norway itinerary once we have it.

We Need Your Help

There are two equally-important ways we could use your help with this trip—praying for it and paying for it. Whether it's through prayer or donations (or both) we would love to have you partner with us on this project and we'd be so grateful for your support. We'll soon be setting up a Facebook page for the trip so we can post pics, updates, and videos as we prepare for and carry out the mission trip.

Please see below for specific ways you can partner with us on this trip. Thank you so much for considering it!
